Dermott Lennon was born on the 12th of June 1969 in Banbridge, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. He grew up on his parents’ farm together with five brothers and one sister.

They always had a few ponies but Dermott only started riding full time at the age of 19 when he went to England to work with horses for two and a half years. Returning back to Ireland, he started off on his own.

He soon became a successful rider on the national circuit, but it was only in 1999 when he had horses like Garronturton Lady and Liscalgot that Dermott competed on his first International shows. Liscalgot then only 8 years old turned out to become Dermott’s most successful horse until this day. With her, Dermott won a Gold medal with the Irish team at the European Championship in Arnhem, Holland in 2001 and and Individual Gold medal at the World Championship in Jerez, Spain in 2002.

After living in Holland for some years Dermott and his wife Sandra moved back to his home place in Northern Ireland. They have one daughter.
